My blowdry usually falls somewhere between decent and frizzy, especially around the front pieces, but I adore the idea of a smooth, glossy blowdry. Over the years, I've tried a lot of prep products, and the majority of them either feel heavy or promise shine but fall short. I chose Chris McMillan's Glassy Smooth Blowdry Spray because I didn't want a confusing routine with layers of products, but rather something that concentrated on the blowdry itself.

I was drawn to it because it sounded so simple. It functions as a heat protectant and a smoothing spray, and it should be applied to damp hair prior to heating. It is intended to help manage frizz, shield hair from high temperatures, and leave a glossy finish after the blowdry. It seemed like a sensible combination. I wanted to improve the appearance of my blowdry without using oils or serums afterward.

The fact that this is positioned as a preparation step rather than a final product also appealed to me. In my experience, when the prep is right, the styling part becomes much easier. I was hoping for that in this situation.

The texture caught my attention right away. The spray emits a fine mist rather than a thick stream and feels incredibly light. It doesn't soak or burden the hair; instead, it spreads through it with ease. My hair immediately felt smoother without being slick. It still felt like hair, just easier to manage.

The fragrance is subtle and clean. It has a light, fresh scent that quickly disappears once you begin drying. I made sure to get the hair underneath at the nape, which I usually overlook, and sprayed it through towel-dried hair from roots to ends. After combing everything through, my hair already felt easier to work with before I even turned the dryer on.

I also liked that it didn't leave any residue on my hands. This blowdry spray didn't immediately feel greasy or sticky like some others. Rather than sitting on top, it seemed to vanish into the hair.

What I Noticed While Blowdrying

My hair started acting differently as soon as I started blowdrying it. My hair felt less resistant as the brush went through each section more smoothly. Additionally it appeared to dry more quickly particularly at the ends, where I typically have trouble with puffiness.

I didn't feel the need to go over the same passages repeatedly in order to make them flow better. Compared to normal, my hair began to look polished much earlier in the process. The blowdry felt simpler and less annoying just because of that.

The sense of control over everything was the most notable aspect. Even without using a round brush perfectly, my hair still fell into place. I had the impression that the spray was taking care of some of the work, which is precisely what I want from a prep product.

The Final Result and Wear Test

My blowdry was much smoother after it was done. Usually, the first area to frizz the hair around my face appeared more even and serene. The shine was present, but it didn't appear coated or excessively glossy.

My hair was soft, too. It didn't feel stiff and product-heavy when I ran my fingers through it. It felt like my hair, even though it appeared to be a salon blowout.

Later in the day was the actual test. My blowdries typically lose their shape after a few hours because I live in a humid area. The smoothness lasted a lot longer this time. The frizz did not return as it usually does, and the shine persisted.

My hair used to look great after styling and then gradually fall apart before I used this spray. My blowdry looked more deliberate for the rest of the day after using it. I didn't think it needed to be touched up or topped with another product.

The fact that it doesn't try to do too much is what I find most appealing. Rather than competing with the blowdry process, it enhances it. The frizz control happens organically while you style, and the heat protection is comforting, particularly if you frequently use hot tools.

Rather than saving it for special occasions, I now reach for it whenever I want to blow dry. It is easy to incorporate into a regular routine and adds effortless polish to the finished hair. This spray is worth trying if you want salon-smooth hair but don't know how to achieve it at home.
